The challenge
Produce a creative response to a primary source wartime artefact that could be incorporated into an Anzac Day or Remembrance Day ceremony.
As a result of researching a wartime artefact (for example photograph, medal, diary, letter, poem or story), students produce a slideshow or video as a creative response. This could be in the form of a:
- play
- artwork
- dance
- animation
- poem
- photo collage
- written and recorded song
- interview with a a local veteran
- retelling of a story
- cartoon
- personal reflections
- historical recount or timeline.

Content
Days and weeks celebrated or commemorated in Australia (including Anzac Day), and the importance of symbols and emblems. (ACHHK063)
Students:
- identify and describe local, state and national symbols and discuss the origins, symbolism and significance, eg the school logo, Australian and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, coats of arms from states and Australia
- identify important Australian celebrations and commemorations and discuss their origins and significance in society.
